Poker Hand Rankings
In poker game, the grouping of cards or hands is ranked higher than other hands which depend on the occurrence of the combination. The player having the best poker hand wins the pot at the shutdown. Poker hand rankings are also used in other types of card games.
The ranking for poker hands is done from small to top such as 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, Jack, Queen, King and the Ace. No ranking is done in case of suits such as there can be no position between the king of spades and the king of hearts. The ranking for poker depends on only five cards. The cards are in the sequence of rising value such as one pair, straight, full house, pair of four cards and royal flush.
Ranking of Poker Hands
The ranking for poker hands is done in the following manner such as:-
-
One pair means the player should have two cards with the equal numerical value out of five cards. If there are equal pairs, then the comparison should be done for the highest ranking odd cards from each hand and then compare the second highest odd card and the game continues forever.
-
Two pair means two sets of cards including one other card. If the higher pairs are found to be equal then compare the lower pair of cards.
-
A pair of three cards means three cards of the similar numerical value including the other two cards. When the pairs of three cards are found to be of same rank, then compare the highest two left over cards in every hand. When the player founds those cards to be same, then compare the inferior odd cards.
-
Straight means arranging the five cards of different suits in the same order. If the cards are not arranged in the sequential order then that pair of cards is considered as invalid.
-
Flush means arranging the five cards of the similar suit in non-sequential order.
-
Full House means the pair of three cards and contains the same numerical value. If the pair of three cards is found to be equal, then the ranking of the pair of poker hands will decide about the conclusion.
-
A pair of four cards means the four cards having equal numerical value including any other card.
-
Straight Flush means arranging of the five cards of the similar suit in the same sequential order.
-
Royal Flush means if all the suits are found to be same, then ranking for royal flush is also found to be equal.
-
If the five cards do not match any grouping, then the chance of high card arrives. When two hands are compared, the player having the highest combination of cards or hands will win the game. In this way, ranking for higher poker hand is done.
