Basic Rules of Poker

Poker is a card game of chance. But before playing this game, one should know the rules of the game. These poker games are played by 2-10 players with a punch of 52 cards. The main purpose of playing poker is to gather the best hand from the board and pocket cards.

There are some basic rules which one should follow for ranking of the hands and they are:-

• Royal flush – If the player will have the same suit, then it will be known as Royal flush.
• Five of a kind – It includes four cards of the same value including a joker.
• Straight flush – It consists of any five cards of the same suit arranged in the similar order.
• Four of a kind – It includes four cards having the same numerical value.
• Full house – Full house will be made when the player will have a three of a kind along with a pair.
• Flush – Arranging five cards of equal suit but not in the same order.
• Straight – Arranging five cards in a proper sequence but it is not necessary that the cards should be of the same suit.
• Three of a kind – One should have three cards of the same numerical value.
• Two pair – The player should have two separate pairs to make a two pair.
• One pair – It includes two cards having the same numerical value.
• High card – If the player will have the highest card to make a hand.

Before starting the game, the players should decide on the betting limit and if the player has decided to choose to play this game on online, then he has to choose that betting limit which he can afford to play. Before beginning the poker game, each player has to keep a token bet or an ante into the pot before dealing with the cards.

The game can be started by putting any amount in the pot. After that, the game starts and the cards are distributed and as the player sits to the left of the button or dealer, the cards are turned by facing upwards and the game continues in the clockwise order. There are mainly four betting rounds and the player which remains at the end is declared the winner and wins the pot. The amount in the pot becomes doubled after the third round. That whole amount is given to the winner.
